Bacon Apple Pie (Courtesy Tif Smith)

Instructions:

 

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 

​

Unroll pie crust and fit into black pan or 9-inch pie plate.

​

Stir together brown sugar and next 5 ingredients with a fork in a large bowl. Add Alaga then add apple slices tossing to coat. Pour apples in the prepared crust.

​

Arrange bacon slices in a lattice design over filling gently pressing ends of strips sealing the pie crust

​

Cover pie with foil. Place pie on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Remove foil and bake 40 more minutes or until crust is golden brown and bacon is crisp. Be sure to check it every few minutes to keep the bacon from burning. The bacon should be nice and golden brown. Take the Alaga and drizzle some over the top of the bacon top and let sit in oven for about 5 minutes.

Remove pie from oven and let it cool for at least one hour before cutting and serving.

Ingredients:

​

2 frozen pie crusts thawed

​

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

​

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

​

1/2 tsp. ground caramom

​

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

​

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

​

1/2 cup Alaga syrup

​

6 cups sliced, peeled Granny Smith Green Apples (5 apples should make 6 cups)

​

1 pack of apple wood smoked country bacon slices

​
